Calvary Women’s Restoration House, called CWRH, is a Calvary Chapel Crystal River ministry. It exists to offer hope and healing to women who find themselves trapped in a cycle of destructive behavior and desperate for change. Through a faith-based agenda, we help women learn how to live lives that are healthy, whole, and productive. Our one-year program helps women understand what a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is and how to study the Bible in a way that allows them to see themselves and life from a different point of view – from God’s perspective.
The curriculum and dynamics of CWRH are designed to help women break free from the destructive behaviors created by unhealthy patterns of thinking and ways of handling the challenges of life. We help them heal from past hurts, be able to identify unhealthy patterns of thinking and learn new ways through Christ to make decisions and process emotions. As they begin to align their thinking with Biblical principles, they find a new pattern emerging in their choices that brings wholeness and restoration to their life. They discover the power of being surrounded by a community committed to their highest good. They are given the benefit of mentors who have been in their shoes and successfully walked through many of the same challenges they are facing or will face.

The curriculum also includes life skill classes in health, nutrition, business ethics, and best practices, parenting, housekeeping, how to do a budget and handle finances, homemaking, resume writing, and how to conduct themselves in a job interview. They are treated to many fun and engaging outside activities, such as kayaking and attending some of Crystal River’s many festivals. These activities help them understand the importance of balance in life and to develop their social skills.

For those women who opt to enter Phases 2 & 3 and continue through the end of the one-year course, we also assist them in their attempt to be reconciled with family, acquire employment, find healthy living quarters, and become financially stable and solvent.
CWRH is a faith-based ministry that is designed to restore women to the place of dignity and contribution God designed them to have. Through the study of Biblical principles, they are trained to think differently, which allows them to approach past wounds with a different perspective and current life choices with a new set of skills grounded in wisdom and truth. This ministry is designed to restore the life of each woman, which, in turn, restores the lives of their families.

Mission
To help women break addictive and destructive life patterns through a personal relationship with Jesus by learning how to use His Word to change their thinking, which results in different life choices that bring actual life transformation and not just behavioral modification. This process is guided and monitored by experienced mentors who have successfully completed the process personally.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and
pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)

Vision
CWRH is a faith-based ministry that is designed to restore women to the place of dignity and contribution in society that God designed them to have. Through the study of Biblical principles, they are trained to think differently, which allows them to approach past wounds with a different perspective and current life choices with a new set of skills grounded in wisdom and truth. This ministry is designed to restore the life of each woman, which, in turn, restores the lives of their families through a personal understanding of Jesus and a practical application of His Word in their lives as we walk each step of the way with them through the process. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need to live a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence (2 Peter 1:3 NLT).

Eligibility Criteria
In order to provide every candidate with the best help they can receive, CWRH seeks to accept those to whom we are called and equipped to minister. In order to be considered as a candidate for the ministry, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • This ministry is designed to bring about change, so applicants must demonstrate a willingness to change at all times.

  • An applicant does not need to be a Christian to come here; however, they must be open to seeking God and the direction He has for their life. They must understand that they are coming to a Christ-centered ministry, where God’s word is the ultimate authority and where they will be taught and held accountable to Christian standards of behavior.

  • An applicant must have a sincere desire and willingness to be challenged and discipled both spiritually and practically in a walk with Christ.

  • An applicant must be physically able to participate in all activities, including, but not limited to, chores, minimal exercise, and practical Christian Ministry.

  • An applicant must not be on any prescription medication that is addictive or potentially abusive. Life-sustaining medications are allowed with a proper prescription. CWRH Ministry Team must approve all medications. (Psychotropic medications are NOT considered life-sustaining medications. CWRH is a program for women who are willing to look to the Lord to help them with/through emotional matters rather than continuing on medication. CWRH is not a medical facility. If you are currently taking psychotropic medication and desire to be in the program, you must first have a conversation with the Ministry Team. You must then contact your doctor and bring with you a safe step-down process and adequate medication to complete that process.)

  • An applicant must not need any treatment for medical conditions in the first six months. Although we understand health is important, we also understand that it has not been the main focus of the applicant's life. During the initial six months of the program, we do not schedule regular dental or health check-ups. CWRH is not staffed to transport residents to and from medical appointments. Therefore, any serious medical/dental needs must be addressed prior to entry into the program. In the event of an actual emergency, Residents will be taken to the dentist/doctor.

  • You must be able to provide a one-time $250 cash donation to the ministry in order to have something of your own invested in changing your life.

Disclaimer:
CWRH may not be suitable for everybody. A referral network is in place and is being expanded for people to whom CWRH may not be equipped to help, i.e., those in need of detoxification, those with mental illnesses, severe physical illnesses, or disabilities, etc. CWRH does not discriminate based on race or ethnic background.

Drug Screening Policy & Procedures
Entry

In accordance with our mission to minister to those with “an evident desire to follow
Christ,” and to ensure the safety of the Residents, a drug screen may be administered on the day of admission.
Current Residents.

For the sake of accountability, random drug screens will be performed on participants in all levels of CWRH.
Upon prior knowledge or suspicion of drug or alcohol use or upon a behavioral change in the participant (as noted by CWRH Residents or Ministry Team, or Calvary Chapel Ministry Team), an immediate drug screening will be performed.
Positive results will result in discipline up to and including dismissal.

Refusal to take a drug/alcohol screen or test at any time will be considered an admission of drug/alcohol use and will result in immediate dismissal.
We do work with courts and probation departments and are required to report a change of status and test results.

“Be sober! Be on the alert! Your adversary, the Devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your brothers in the world.” –1 Peter 5:8-9

Dress Code
Let your true beauty come from your inner personality, not a focus on the external. For lasting beauty comes from a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is precious in God’s sight and is much more important than the outward adornment of elaborate hair, jewelry, and fine clothes (1 Peter 3:3-4 TPT).

At CWRH, women are expected to dress modestly according to the following guidelines.

  • Shirts must not reveal ANY cleavage or be short-waisted. You must be able to bend over without skin showing. Longer tank tops may be worn underneath.

  • Outer tank tops have to be higher necked & thicker straps – again, with no cleavage showing

  • No spaghetti strap tanks, or dresses, permitted unless under a shirt or covered.

  • If low-rise jeans are worn, shirts must cover all skin

  • Dresses must be just above knee length and loosely fitting

  • Shorts must be about mid-thigh, no short shorts

  • No shorts or pants with writing across the rear

  • Leggings may only be worn with shirts that cover the rear end

Communication and Visits
Mail

  • Residents may correspond with family members after the intake process has occurred, provided that the family dynamic is healthy and non-toxic.

  • Any other correspondence that does not involve immediate family has to be approved by the Director of CWRH, but not until after the initial 30-day evaluation period. If approved, this privilege can be revoked at any time at Ministry Team’s discretion, should it become apparent that the correspondence is interfering with the Resident’s progress and healing.

  • Postage is the Resident’s responsibility.

  • Incoming and Outgoing mail are subject to screening.

  • Mail may not always be distributed daily but rather at the convenience of the CWRH Ministry Team.

  • Due to the lack of storage space and restrictions on items that Residents can have, requests for items should not be made in letters. If the Resident has a legitimate need, she can bring it to the Director of CWRH for consideration. Any item arriving in the mail pursuant to a request via correspondence will be returned to the sender.

  • All mail should be addressed to the Resident c/o Calvary Women’s Restoration House, 1145 NW US HWY 19, Crystal River, FL 34428.

Packages

  • All incoming packages must be pre-approved by the Director of CWRH. Any non-approved item included in a pre-approved package will not be given to the Resident but will be handled at the Director’s discretion.

  • Residents’ families are not allowed to send individual gift packages or special occasion gifts unless the Resident is in Phase 3 of CWRH. If a Resident’s family has the desire to send a package that would bless the entire house, please contact the director for ideas and approval. All unapproved packages will be returned to the sender.

  • Residents will spend considerable time in Bible Studies and have required reading from a list of pre-approved books. For this reason, the only books that can be received for Residents are ones from the approved list in the event that the sender wants Resident to have their own personal copy of that book.

Phone Calls

  • Residents will not be permitted to make phone calls in the first month of their stay; months are calculated by date of entry, not the number of days (Ex. Jan 4 to Feb 4, not the month of January). After 30 days, they will be allowed a 30-minute weekly phone call on an appointed day, to approved family only, to be monitored by CWRH Ministry Team. The Resident will determine how to divide the time among family members.

  • Phone calls may be monitored by CWRH Ministry Team, especially in early phases, and may be terminated if deemed necessary.

  • Calls with children will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and the decision will be based on what is best for the child.

  • Phone calls are outgoing only and will come from a restricted number. If a Resident misses a call at the arranged time, she may try again later.

  • If the Resident’s family would like information regarding her status and the Resident is comfortable having us share it with them, they can leave a message for CWRH Ministry Director at 1-970-823-4428. The Director will return the call when possible. Please be patient. Sometimes the CWRH world is a little busy!

Phone Calls cont.
EMERGENCIES – if you have a legitimate emergency, please contact the Director of CWRH.
Visits

  • No visits will be allowed in the first 30 days. Visits are primarily by family members; exceptions may be discussed and approved by the Director of CWRH.

  • All visits must be pre-arranged and approved by the Director of CWRH.

  • Visits in early phases will occur on church property. The visits will start out short and increase in length.

  • Residents in 3rd Phase may have off-site visits with approval.

  • Out-of-statete visitors may call the Director of CWRH to discuss extended visits.

All mail, packages, phone calls and visits are privileges and are at discretion of the CWRH Ministry Team.

Statement of Faith
Doctrinal

  • We believe in what is termed “The Apostles’ Creed” as embodying all the

fundamental doctrines of orthodox evangelical Christianity.

  • We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.

  • We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings; His substitutionary atoning death; bodily resurrection; ascension into heaven; perpetual intercession for His people; and personal, visible return to earth. We believe that He is one and the same as God. He was fully human and fully God.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower in ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, either at the time of or subsequent to regeneration, which is a separate work from the indwelling Spirit for salvation. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all biblical gifts of the Spirit as reflected through the fruit of that same Spirit.

  • We believe that all the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts and that they are the infallible rule of faith and practice.

  • We believe all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all of his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.

  • We await the pre-tribulation rapture of the church, and we believe in the literal Second Coming of Christ with His saints to rule the earth, which will be personal and visible. This motivates us to holy living, heartfelt worship, committed service, diligent study of God’s Word, regular fellowship, and participation in adult baptism by immersion and Holy Communion.

  • We are neither Five-Point Calvinists nor are we Armenians. We adhere firmly to the biblical teaching of God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. We avoid any theological systems of belief that go beyond the written Word and thereby divide the body of Christ.

  • We do not believe in “positive confession” (the faith movement belief that God can be commanded to heal or work miracles according to man’s will); a human prophecy that supersedes the Scriptures; the incorporation of humanistic and secular psychology into biblical teaching; the overemphasis of spiritual gifts and experiential signs and wonders to the exclusion of biblical teaching; or that true Christians can be demon-possessed.

  • We believe in the universal Church, in the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head, and all regenerated persons are members.

  • We believe the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church: 1) baptism and 2) the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion and communion, both of which are open to all believers in Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the laying on of hands for the sending out of pastors and missionaries in conjunction with the anointing of oil by the elders for the healing of the sick.

Practical

  • We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s (agape) love, which is greater than the differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

  • We believe worship of God should be spiritual; therefore, we remain flexible and yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

  • We believe the worship of God should be inspirational; therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.

  • We believe worship of God should be intelligent; therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us on how He should be worshiped. We seek to teach the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to the individual’s life, leading that person to a greater maturity in Christ. We teach both expositionally and topically.

  • We believe worship of God should be fruitful; therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshiping Him.

  • We believe that the church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy, and we depend on the Holy Spirit to lead rather than on fleshly promotion.

  • We believe that the Bible clearly delineates that spiritual gifts are for the edification of the body and that they are to be exercised in love. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without love, all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless. In our services, we focus on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God. We do not practice speaking in tongues during worship or while a Bible study is in progress because we do not believe that the Holy Spirit would interrupt Himself. God is not the author of confusion. These gifts are encouraged in more intimate settings, e.g., afterglow services and small groups where their benefit can accomplish the purpose for which they have been given – the edification of the body of Christ.

TERM OF COMMITMENT

PHASE 1: SEE AND KNOW
Most women come to CWRH at a point of crisis in their life. No matter how clearly we think we define the terms of the commitment they are making, we realize that most of the time, they may not always have a clear enough mind to really acknowledge the magnitude of their commitment. For that reason, we allow them the first 30 days to see:

  • Who Jesus is

  • What CWRH is really like

  • What it means to live a Biblically-based life

  • What the commitment will actually require of them

This 30-day period also allows our Ministry Team to evaluate the sincerity of the Resident’s commitment, their physical ability to participate in the program, and the Resident’s overall attitude toward real change in her life.
During this Phase, the Resident will participate in:

  • Strong Foundations Discipleship Study

  • How to Study the Bible Workshop

  • Becoming acquainted with a family structure and practical living household skills

  • Biblical Discipleship

  • Church attendance

  • Individual Biblical Guidance

  • Opportunities to give back through Community Service

At the end of 30 days, there will be an evaluation at which time the Resident and the CWRH Ministry Team will be able to know if this is a fit for both parties. If they agree that it is, then the Resident will be asked to commit to the remaining term of the one-year program.

PHASE 2: STUDY AND GROW
This phase of Resident’s time will be used to help her grow through the study of God’s Word. She will participate in additional programs offered to help with vital life skills, including but not limited to:

  • Various specialized studies addressing her core issues of struggle

  • Healed and Set Free Study to help her heal from past hurts and learn how to create healthy patterns to deal with hard issues in the future

  • Biblical Work Ethics Course with assessments

  • Classes in health and exercise

  • Education on how to cook, how to create a meal preparation plan, how to create a menu, and how to put together a food budget

  • Biblical Discipleship

  • Church attendance

  • Individual Biblical Guidance

  • Opportunities to give back through Community Service

There will be a follow-up meeting six months from the date of the Resident’s 30-day evaluation. An assessment will be made at that time as to the Resident’s progress in Phase 2 and to determine if Phase 3 is a viable option for the Resident. The determination as to the Resident’s readiness for Phase 3 will be based upon a joint evaluation by the Ministry Team and the Resident. When both parties agree that the Resident is ready for Phase 3, then the resident will execute the Contract of Agreement for participation in CWRH’s non-residential portion of its program.

PHASE 3: LIVE AND SHOW
The last phase of the CWRH term is used to help women use what they have learned through the first phases and apply it to everyday life. Each resident may enter this phase at different times, depending on her progress, with guidance from the Ministry team.
During this phase, Residents will be able to participate in various courses and activities that will prepare them for reentry into non-residential life. Those include, but are not limited to:

  • All courses offered in Phase 2

  • Resume Writing Workshop

  • Financial Peace University Workshop

  • Church attendance

  • Individual Biblical Guidance

  • Assistance in finding jobs and healthy living environments

  • Opportunities to give back through Community Service

Guidelines and Expectations

GUIDELINES

  • CWRH is a Christian Discipleship Ministry. This means that Residents will be receiving Biblical teaching and be held accountable to Christian forms of behavior. God’s Word will be used as the authority by which all guidelines and rules will be determined.

  • CWRH is a one-year program. However, at 30 days, there will be an evaluation to determine – based upon the Resident’s experience and participation up until that point - if the Resident agrees to commit to the entire year and/or if the Resident is a good fit for the program. At this evaluation, the Resident can choose to leave the program, and the Resident can also be asked to leave the program.

  • A Drug Screen will be done upon arrival. Resident agrees to submit to this drug screening and any subsequent, random drug screening during her time in the Ministry.

  • CWRH is a tobacco-free ministry. This means that no use or possession of any tobacco products, including vaping, patches, or gum, will be allowed. Any tobacco products or paraphernalia present upon arrival will be disposed of.

  • Residents of the CWRH Ministry taking psychotropic medications must bring a medical step-down plan from their physician. All approved medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, are to be checked in with the Director of CWRH upon entry. (See Handbook for Medication Guidelines).

  • Money is not necessary for the early phases of the ministry. Please do not bring it with you since you will not be allowed to have it on your person.

  • Personal vehicles will not be permitted for most of your ministry stay. In Phase 3 of the Ministry, vehicle use will be at the discretion of the Ministry Team.

  • Resident is welcome to bring an iPod or MP3 player, but it must not have Internet capability and can only contain Christian music.

  • We have found that the degree of success we can achieve through the CWRH Ministry is directly connected to keeping the residential environment free from distractions that will hinder our Residents in their process of detoxing from not just their addiction but their old ways and patterns of thinking that led them to that addiction as well. We have seen Residents make huge breakthroughs when they are able to tune out things that have previously been distractions. For that reason, there are no televisions, computers, cell phones, or video games permitted on the premises. Most Residents see a huge advantage in limiting these distractions.

  • CWRH is not a program based upon principles and rules designed to achieve behavioral modification. It is an introduction to the most transformational relationship on earth – our relationship with our Creator. And because that relationship is more important than any other, we require it to be the sole focus of our Residents during the term of their stay. That means that there will be no communication or romantic involvement with men (or women). This includes verbal contact, mail, phone, visitation, third party, etc. Exceptions to this rule would be husbands of Residents. In certain cases, communication with husbands may also be put on hold when it becomes necessary to do so for the healing of both parties. Since it takes an intentional focus on Christ to achieve the radical transformation that needs to take place to be completely free, a resident’s focus cannot be compromised or complicated by a competing relationship to someone other than Jesus.

  • We will do our best to help with food allergies, but we cannot accommodate special diets or eating preferences. Healthy options will be offered at each meal.

  • If you decide to leave CWRH prior to the end of your commitment, you have 30 minutes to pack your things and make arrangements to be picked up at a location designated by CWRH. If no arrangement is made, we will provide transportation to the airport, bus station, or homeless shelter for the Resident and her belongings.

EXPECTATIONS
Each member of the staff feels called by God to the CWRH Ministry and is committed to walking this spiritual journey to freedom with you. We believe in the Biblical concept of servant leadership and do not take the authority God has given us over you lightly. In our hearts, it comes with a huge responsibility to do whatever it takes to help you succeed.
We find that it is helpful to clarify expectations, and this is a summary of what you can expect, what we expect, and then some things for consideration:

What you can expect:

  • An environment that has been carefully constructed to allow you to focus on your relationship with Jesus.

  • To be treated with dignity as a person created in the image of God. Sincere, honest questions will receive a like response.

  • Genuine love and care. As stated previously, the staff at CWRH has been called and specifically equipped by God to love and care for those who are struggling with issues and problems such as yours.

  • Guidance and constructive criticism to help you grow past the things keeping you from total freedom and healing.

  • When discipline becomes necessary, consequences that are fair and proportional to the violation.

What is expected of you:

  • A sincere desire to change in character and conduct.

  • Complete honesty and openness. We understand how hard trust is, but mutual trust is vital if we are to help you work through the life-controlling issues you are here to address.

  • Humility. A lack of humility prevents teachability, and the main reason you are here is to learn – to learn about Jesus, to learn about yourself, and to learn a new way of doing life. Humility will help you embrace and appreciate the authority and structure of CWRH rather than resent it.

  • We do not ask for mindless obedience; however, compliance to the guidelines, rules, and authority structure is non-negotiable in order for us to help you.

  • Commitment. You must be all in. This ministry is not for the faint-hearted. Remaining in the program requires a continued commitment to personal change in character and conduct, as well as a willingness to continue on the path of healing as identified by the staff.

  • Diligence. You must demonstrate a willingness and growing ability to follow the rules and satisfactorily complete homework, journaling, and work duties with a positive and teachable attitude.

For Your Consideration:
Some people find that this is a difficult program – and on many levels, it is. Part of why is that you will need to give up some of your perceived freedoms in order to attain true freedom. That means:

  • You will be supervised and accountable to the staff.

  • Living arrangements are in a dormitory setting – privacy and personal space is limited.

  • The schedule is structured, and free time is limited.

  • You will be required to do work projects as part of the program.

  • This is a Christ-centered program (see our Statement of Faith). Your thoughts and beliefs will be challenged, and you will be changed in the process. Your words and behavior will be addressed and challenged if they do not exhibit the character and conduct of a follower of Christ. Circumstances that could lead to a Resident’s dismissal from the program:

  • Medical issues arise and prevent ongoing participation in the program.

  • Your emotional, psychological, or spiritual needs are beyond the ability or expertise of the existing program or staff.

  • There are significant omissions or falsifications of information on your application or in the interview process that come to light.

  • Attempting to smuggle in or use tobacco, drugs, pornography, weapons, or anything else deemed to be a threat to yourself or others in the community.

  • Violence or threats of violence, taunting to provoke violence or creation of an atmosphere of intimidation.

  • A pattern of inappropriate relating with members of the same or opposite sex or pursuing a romantic relationship with another resident or staff person

  • A pattern of lying and deception.

  • A pattern of abusive language.

  • An influence on others that is destructive, demoralizing, or divisive.

  • Being outside of the residence after lights out or before wake-up in the morning without a staff member present.

  • Walking off the property without permission.

Additional House Rules specifically pertaining to the day-to-day routines and schedules of the house will be provided for you at the time of your arrival.

CWRH Commitment Form
I,                                                                    , do commit to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the CWRH Ministry Team to surrender my life completely, to the best of my ability, for the time that I am in this ministry. I concede that my decisions have not brought me to the place in life that I want to be and have cost me more than I want to pay. I humbly submit myself to the counsel and direction of the Lord through His Word and His Ministry Team at CWRH. I agree to obey the rules of the ministry, to do whatever my overseers ask of me for as long as I am participating in the ministry.

CWRH Ministry Agreement
This Agreement was made and entered into on the          day of                                                                                                , 20  , between
, hereinafter referred to as “Resident,” and Calvary Women’s Restoration House Inc., d/b/a CWRH, hereinafter referred to as “CWRH,” until such time as CWRH, at its sole discretion, elects to terminate this Agreement.

  • Financial Responsibility. The Resident agrees to pay a fee to offset ministry expenses during the work phase of their ministry commitment. The fee will be determined by a percentage of the Resident’s paycheck, not to exceed an amount that would cause the Resident to fall below the current standard of living or violate the principles of a sound budget.
